Persistent emergent wetlands are dominated by plants that normally remain standing at least until the beginning of the next growing season. Example species include; cattails, bulrushes, sedges, true grasses such as reed, manna grasses, slough grass, and white top. Broad-leaf persistent emergents include purple loosestrife, dock, and smartweed
